Our dear mother Maria F. Bravo de Betancur, aged 100, went peacefully to heaven, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Maria came from Colombia with her children in the early 1980’s to be reunited with her husband, the late Maximiliano Betancur. Maria was the daughter of the late Samuel Bravo and Emiliana Holguin.
She was a kind, strong, honest, hard-working woman, and a proud member of the community. She was an outstanding mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was an exceptional human being who enjoyed attending Mass Service on a regular basis with her family. Her faith in God and love of family were all she lived for. We would like everyone to know that our beloved mother led her life by example with grace and dignity. She loved symphony concerts at the Veterans Auditorium in Providence, which reminded her of the years when she was part of the Symphony Orchestra of Antioquia where she sang as a Soprano.
Maria leaves behind a large and extended family including eight children, Samuel Betancur, his wife Marta, Gladys Betancur, Doris Betancur, Maria E. Betancur, Rogelio (Julio) Betancur, Daryl A. Betancur, and Diana Betancur, as well as seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Olivia Betancur preceded her in death.
